We were very surprised to see this on the the lane up to the barns a week ago after a very heavy downpour.......
We were in a bit of a rush because we were just about to set off on our holidays and didn't want to spend a lot of time investigating. However, it seemed quite dead (or a little bit plastic) so we moved it to the side of the lane with a stick and left it. We will conduct some further enquiries and see if it's still lying around!
There is still a baby theme at the moment in my world of home making, with the latest request being a couple of baby grow bags. This sort of thing wasn't around when my babies were babies so I had to do a bit of investigation before starting. I made a pattern from baby's current shop bought bag and set about making one with some subtle but cute fabric, some spare quilt wadding and a cotton sheet (a too small reject from our bed), and of course a zip. I'm a bit out of practice at making things, but was pleased with the finished bag. More to the point, Mum and baby loved it.

Knitted in 4 ply from a Rowan pattern book but using Sirdar Snuggly Crofter Baby Fair Isle. Lovely soft yarn but I'm not sure I want to knit anything big in 4 ply - it doesn't grow quick enough!
It seemed a good idea to make use of the crochet ribbon from the parcel, so now it's teddy bunting for the nursery. Ahhhhhhh

Another baby blanket. This time it's for our own family with a joint effort from the mum to be, Aunty Christine and me. We opted for bold and bright colours rather than the usual baby pastel colours and it looks fab.

Anther design from Gail Pan. I love the embroidery, but I'm not too sure about the wall hanging. I was aiming for a folk art style, but was quite keen to use whatever I could get my hands on without buying anymore fabric, so I'm not sure that I hit the target with my choices. Never, mind, it still looks quite sweet. The copper pipe hanger was also an impromptu discovery (lol).
And we stitched happily ever after.....
I can finally reveal some of the embroidery I have been doing. I wanted to make a special birthday present for AC, my sewing buddy. I don't actually have a photo of the birthday present (yet), but I made one for myself, so this is it.
The design is from 'Patchwork Loves Embroidery' by Gail Pan. The birthday effort has buttons and piping, but mine adorns a bag that was made at speed so is a little more simple! It's now my embroidery project bag.
Nb I found that the Christmas ferrero rocher box is perfect for my selection of embroidery perle thread no. 8! It stops them getting all muddled up in my new bag.
A sheep tea cosy update. All three are finished and I have placed a ban on making any more. That is at least until I've finished some of the other stuff that remains unfinished whilst tea cosy's take over the universe! This time I'm keeping one for myself!
My favourite cosy is the one made from super chunky wool in the front.
